  We stayed at the Kino for 5 1/2 weeks while working at the University of Gondar. The manager and the staff at the Kino went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and well cared for. The waitresses in the restaurant and bar were very kind and accommodating. The room was comfortable and kept very clean by the housekeeping staff. Even though we speak almost no Amharic, we were able to communicate well with the staff. The restaurant menu included a nice selection of traditional Ethiopian meals and some western style dishes. The Kino is conveniently located near one of the entrance gates to the university and near the faculty housing complex. It is a short, inexpensive bajaj ride to downtown Gondar, to the historic sites of Gondar City, and to the marketplace. The staff were helpful in arranging short excursions and have links to several tour companies if you want to arrange longer trips out of town. Unlike some of the other hotels, the Kino has a generator to cope with the frequent power outages in Gondar. The internet worked reasonably well. Overall, the Kino provides great value for your money.

  Good value clean hotel. Nice quiet area and excellent wifi (for Ethiopia)
